ABOUT THE GAME

About Stack Shift

Stack Shift is an endless timing game. A block slides back and forth above your tower; stop it at the right moment and only the part that overlaps the floor below stays. Every miss makes the next landing harder, and every perfect streak wins some width back.

How to play

  1. Press Start climbing, then watch the block slide above the top of the tower.
  2. Stop it with Space, a tap on the tower, or the Drop button.
  3. Only the part resting on the floor below remains; the overhang falls away, so the tower gets narrower.
  4. Land within 6 pixels of the floor below for a perfect placement that keeps the full width.
  5. If the block misses the tower completely, the run ends.

Perfect streaks and speed

  • Three perfect placements in a row restore some of the width you have lost.
  • The block moves faster as you climb, up to a fixed top speed.
  • Every fifth floor is a gust floor, where the speed rises and falls in a gentle, predictable pattern.
  • At floor 20 the sky changes and the climb continues; after that, the next goal moves up in steps of ten floors.

Scoring

  • Each floor you add counts toward your height, and perfect landings earn extra points, more for longer streaks.
  • Your personal best is the highest floor you have reached.

Controls

  • Keyboard: Space stops the block.
  • Touch or mouse: tap the tower or use the Drop button.
  • Sound is optional and starts switched off.

Saving

Your best floor is saved in this browser. No account or sign-in is needed, and motion pauses when you switch to another tab.
